I was 22 years old when this was written. I'd had problems with sleep for some years and often went to work not having had a full nights sleep. But this time the problem was noisy and sticky at both ends. Can you believe it ,we even had another one three years later. Mark our eldest son was born tongue tied, this meant he could not suck on his bottle properly and what should have been a ten minute feed always took one and a half hours. With feeding every 4 hours and a baby exhausted with the effort just taking one ounce of milk, (the normal having to be 3 onces) it was hard for all 3 of us. The experience as parents has never been forgotten by us. Today, still, we can't shut him up!
SLEEPLESS NIGHT
Bulbs embedded with endless light,
Blossom only in the sky at night.
Scattered far beyond ones reach,
What lies beyond what can it teach.
Is it heaven that hides beyond their beams,
They're a sight indeed in sleepless dreams.
Why aren't they moving like the moon?
Why do they blush and go so soon?
Does the Sun melt them away,
And the moon replace them at the end of day.
Is the moon in a race with the Sun,
Their race is endless and never won.
They chase each other from east to west,
Neither stops to take a rest.
The stars support the moon I know,
The Sun is up and off they go.
A dark curtain comes across the sky,
Leaving only their heaven dry.
Now I must retire and sleep,
For the curtain has closed and begun to weep.
The curtain has covered the heavenly glow,
The curtain has covered an endless show.
When God does decide to take me,
There'll be no curtain to hide the beauty I see.
For it is indeed eternity,
A glittering heavenly blushing sight.
A dream from my sleepless night.
